City Tour of Historic Centre of Lima

This tour will take you through the Historic Center of Lima, a cultural treasure recognized for its rich history and stunning architecture. We will start in the Plaza San Martín, a space that celebrates the independence of Peru and is surrounded by magnificent buildings in the neoclassical style, as the Hotel Bolivar, symbol of elegance and distinction in Lima.

From there, we will move by the iconic Jiron of the Union, a pedestrian street that has been witness to the growth of the city and of its social and commercial life. This tour will take us to some of the most important museums of Lima, as the Central Museum of Reservations, where you can see a fascinating collection of peruvian art from the pre-columbian era to the contemporary art, as well as archaeological pieces such.

Along the way, we will also enjoy the architecture of some of the most important churches in Lima. We will start with The Merced, a baroque church dating back to the SIXTEENTH century, with its impressive facade of red granite and its richly decorated interior. Then, we will visit the famous Church of San Francisco, renowned for its colonial architecture and its catacombs, where lie the remains of thousands of people, we will visit the Church of Santo Domingo, with its high tower, and an interior that houses the remains of Saint Martin de Porres and St. Rose of Lima.

Another museum is of great interest that you will visit is the Museum's pre-columbian, which houses an extraordinary display of artifacts from the cultures of pre-inca and inca, including ceramics, textiles and sculptures, which allow you to better understand the millennial roots of Peru.

We will visit also the Park of the Wall, a place that offers a different vision of colonial Lima, with the remains of the wall that protected the city in the SEVENTEENTH century. From this park, we will have a panoramic view of the “other side of Lima”, a space that connects the colonial past with the modern Lima.

We will pause to enjoy a tasting of pisco sour and other traditional cocktails, accompanied by the visiting craft shops, where you can admire and purchase typical products made by talented local artisans. To close with a flourish. We will visit the Plaza mayor of Lima, the heart of the political and religious power of the city. Here you can admire the monumental Cathedral of Lima, an icon of the renaissance architecture with baroque details the religious history of the country. In front of the plaza, we see also the Government Palace, official residence of the president of Peru, and the Municipality of Lima, the seat of the local government.
